Veteran educator tapped as next associate principal at Prospect

The High School District 214 Board of Education on February 22 appointed Kara Kendrick as the next associate principal of Prospect High School.

Kendrick joined District 214 in 2013 and currently serves as the director of specialized programs, overseeing The Academy at Forest View and the District’s transitional program, LIFE.

Kendrick received the District’s Dr. Elizabeth A. Ennis Innovator Award in the 2015-16 school year for her work transforming The Academy. Under her leadership, The Academy at Forest View built a new brand and identity as a place where students find success. The changes, aimed at meeting students where they are academically, socially and emotionally, helped increase student attendance and improved grades.

LIFE was also rebranded, and a new rotation was created to support transition students in reaching their highest individual levels of independence.

Kendrick is a former dean at Naperville North and Maine South high schools and also taught special education at Normal Community High School and Chiddix Junior High School.

She graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in educational administration.
