PSAT/NMSQT
Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered at Prospect High School on Saturday, October 20, 2012.
This test measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills important for success in college.
WHY TAKE THE PSAT?
We encourage high achieving juniors to take the PSAT because it identifies
National Merit Scholars and enables students who score at the highest levels to qualify for college scholarships.
We also encourage our high achieving sophomores to take the test as a practice test.
The PSAT can also be used as a predictor for SAT scores. It allows students to compare their academic skills with those of other college-bound students.
If you are entitled to testing accommodations, PLEASE see your Counselor for additional information. The deadline for submitting Eligibility Forms and Documentation for the October 2012 PSAT/NMSQT is August 22.
The Fee to take the test is $25 through 3 p.m. on September 14, 2012; thereafter $30.

SAT Information
Most colleges and universities accept both the ACT and SAT. The ACT is mandatory for students graduating from a public high school in Illinois as part of the Illinois Prairie State Achievement.
If you are considering a school on the east coast or west coast, you may decide to take the SAT. However, colleges can convert an ACT score to determine what a comparable SAT score would be.
The only District 214 high school that administers the SAT is JOHN HERSEY . JHHS Test Center Code is 195320
