Parking Policies and Procedures
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. As you may be aware of, Prospect should be finishing up the installation of the artificial turf in the stadium. This addition creates opportunities for our Marching Band to practice their skills on the field during the school day. This in turn frees up 142 parking spaces that would be available for our students who would like to purchase a parking permit in the Fall. The one caveat would be that any vehicle parked in this area would have to move to another location in the parking lot by 5pm daily. At that time the band will be using that area of the parking lot to rehearse and will need all vehicles moved. The parking lot area where the band will rehearse will be marked with different color parking lines to clearly designate that those spots have a time limit. Eligible Senior‘s and Junior’s MUST have a valid permit to park on campus starting on August 22, 2012. There will be two opportunities to purchase permits from the Attendance office in August before school starts.
Wednesday, August 15 from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. and Monday, August 20 from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.
*Eligible means that students have completed their detention obligations and did not receive a notice to tow warning in the Spring semester. Students must have served all detentions before being eligible to purchase a parking permit. A list of ID’s will be posted on the wall outside the Attendance office of students who have unserved detentions.
A representative for the student may come purchase the permit for the student, if the student is unable to come
to Prospect of either of the two dates. A copy of DL, insurance, completed application, and registration will be accepted. Permits will also be available for sale the first week of school, but students will NOT be allowed to park on campus without a valid permit. They will need to park off campus or ride the bus until they secure a parking permit.
The parking fees for the 2012-2013 school year are as follows:
$185.00 - Full-year
$140.00 - After 1st Quarter completed (open to eligible Juniors and Seniors) $93.00 - 1st Semester only (Senior’s graduating in January only)
$46.00 - 4th Quarter (open to eligible Juniors and Seniors)
A parking permit will be issued to eligible juniors and seniors after review of the application and presentation by the student of a valid driver’s license, a student I.D., proof of insurance, and the registration card for the family-owned vehicle to which the permit will be used. All automobiles listed above MUST be owned by you or your family.
The application must be completed and signed before a permit will be issued. Cash and checks (make payable to Prospect High school) are accepted. Registering another student’s vehicle under your name will result in your permit being revoked. All eligible students who have been issued parking permits MUST hang it from their rear view mirror and be visible from outside the car.
