Encyclopedia
of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity
This three volume set covers the Nazi Holocaust, "ethnic cleansing" in
Bosnia, tribal warfare in Rwanda and more. The Encyclopedia spans the globe to
explain the issues behind crimes against humanity and human rights issues as
they relate to individual countries and the world at large. It traces the history
of events that qualify as genocide and crimes against humanity, profiles perpetrators
and heroes, and explains international laws and law proceedings aimed at ending
genocide and crimes against humanity. It also delves into depictions and manifestations
of the phenomenon, such as propaganda, sociological and philosophical explanations,
literature and film.

“The Ethics of Reading Elie Wiesel’s Night” by
Daniel R. Schwarz
http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2342/is_2_32/ai_54637193/pg_8
This chapter from Schwarz’s book Imagining the Holocaust discusses the
artistic/literary aspects of Wiesel’s Night. Beware! It is rather academic,
but it makes many interesting points. I recommend beginning with section II
on page 2.

The Translation of Wiesel's Night
is New, but Old Questions are Raised
This New York Times article also deals with the controversy of fact vs. fiction
in Night and whether or not it should be labeled as a novel, memoir, or autobiography.
